The B.Tech in Food Technology is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that applies chemical, physical, biological, and engineering principles to the processing, preservation, packaging, distribution, and quality assurance of food products. While standard chemical engineering or biotechnology degrees touch on bioprocesses generally, Food Technology specializes directly in post-harvest handling, thermal and non-thermal food preservation (HPP, pulsed electric fields), dairy and cereal processing, food safety management systems (HACCP, ISO 22000), and automated food packaging lines. It trains engineers to transform raw agricultural produce into safe, shelf-stable, packaged consumer goods for local consumption and international trade.
